Sonny Rollins (b 1930) is considered as one of the most important and influential jazz musicians. He was a tenor saxophonist who was among the finest improvisers on the instrument to appear since the mid-1950s. In a seven-decade career Rollins recorded over sixty albums. A number of his compositions have become jazz standards, earning him the title "Saxophone Colossus."
